Like all Klingons, Tay'Li has a bad temper. She was raised on Qo'noS with her mother, father and older sister. Until she was 17, she remained on the planet before joining Starfleet where she became the successful woman she is today.
Physical DescriptionBecause Tay'Li is half Klingon, she has prominent forehead ridges, but not as prominent as a full Klingon. She has long black hair and piercing brown eyes and is very well muscled as all other Klingons--she considers being fit to be part of who she is, to be prepared for anything.
Psychological ProfileTay'Li was raised by her Klingon father on the Klingon homeworld, so she is well versed in the rituals of the Klingons and adheres to them--this also accounts for her extremely high pain tolerance. She has a very strong pallete being raised on Klingon food and goes for hardy meals over all others. She has a short fuse and if you piss her off, you'll end up on the wrong side of a hydrospanner. Still, Tay'Li has a secret fondness of love poetry...

HistoryTay'Li Carter was born to K'Tal son of Nor'An and Jessie Carter, on Qo'noS, three years after her older sister, K'Lissa. She grew up in the ways of the Klingon and embraces that side of her whole-heartedly. Still, she never forgets her human side either, it's just in the shadow of her Klingon half most of the time.
When Tay'Li was coming into her own, she went through her rite of passage and was honored. Each year she repeats the ritual with more pain sticks and even invites Gan and Shaelyn along to celebrate with her. This allows her to remember her Klingon heritage as well as to share her beliefs with those closest to her. This keeps the half Klingon happy, as the alternative attitude leaves men running for the hills--and not just men either.
Starfleet always called to Tay'Li even though she was afraid of being ostrasized by the Klingon Empire. With her parents' blessing, she joined at 17 years of age and went into the Engineering and Security Programs, doing the extra four years for Command training. Tay'Li showed great engineering promise--even though she sometimes threw tools at peoples' heads--and got high marks. Everyone who worked with her knew when to duck. Which is when she switched her focus to security for an outlet.
Come 2384 rolled around and the Shrangi Incident occured, she went where she was needed as an able bodied fighter. She had combat training under her belt and a Klingon thirst for bloodshed, so it was the perfect place for her. No amount of wounds suffered made her slow down and should she have died, she would have died honorably.
When the Incident was over in 2386, along with Sorren Gan and Shaelyn Maize, Tay'Li was recruited to work onboard Starbase 12. She and her two friends--Gan she met on the starbase--became familiarized with the Response Base and made it their home, climbing up the ladders of success. Though she loves Engineering, she took up the position of Security officer, as it was the perfect outlet for her anger issues.
